Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading.

From pg. 7 of "Hades"
by Alexandra Adornetto

My sister didn't quite know how to relax in a hammock; she looked too poised and reminded me of a mythical creature who had somehow found herself unceremoniously plonked in a world that made no sense to her.

---

I got rid of the numbers beside each meme. I thought it was too...quantitative. It's best to just leave it be. There may be many blog changes that are coming, but do not fear! Change is good. :)

From pg. 115 of "A Walk to Remember"
by Nicholas Sparks

As I watched her go, I couldn't help but think that of all the times I'd ever talked to her, this was the strangest conversation we'd ever had. Despite the oddness of some of her answers, she seemed practically normal.

---

After reading this book, I finally understand so much more of the movie. Including why it was named "A Walk to Remember".

From pg. 14 of "Wintergirls"
by Laurie Halse Anderson

For one moment we are not failed tests and broken condoms and cheating on essays; we are crayons and lunch boxes and swinging so high our sneakers punch holes in the clouds. For one breath everything feels better.

---

This is one of my favourite quotes ever. I love Laurie Halse Anderson!

From pg. 5 of "The Lonely Hearts Club"
by Elizabeth Eulberg

When I was five years old, I walked down the aisle with the man of my dreams.

Okay, make that boy. He was five, too.

I'm back from South Carolina and all my vacation days are over! Sadly. I wish I stayed there. It's such a nice place with the beach as your backyard. *sigh*

Anyway, fantasy over. School is actually coming soon. So I've got a ton of catching up to do, including commenting back, which is number two on my to-do list. (First is school-related stuff. Sigh.) But I wanted to say thank you sooo much for commenting while I was away. I really appreciate your time! And now I'll be spending my time making it up to you guys. The least I can do is comment back. :)

Happy Tuesday!

We're both obsessed with fate. Anything that helps us make sense of this life is fascinating.

From pg. 1 of "The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May & June"
by Robin Benway

I hate being the oldest.

I hate it because I'm the one who has to experience everything first. And even if I haven't, my sisters still think I know everything. Which I sort of do, but that's not the point.

---

First page in and I can already relate. (April has two sisters and so do I. Sigh). Good signs! Did I tell you about how much I love Robin Benway and that I loved her first book Audrey, Wait! as if I'd marry it? Well...now you know.

From pg. 182 of "The Summer of Skinny dipping"
by Amanda Howells

“I see the light, and I just think it's beautiful. And that's all there is for me. Just the beauty of it. You can't explain it scientifically, it just is -- a beautiful strange light."
"That's too poetic for me."

---

Yes, a summer read! The scenes in this story are so beautiful...it makes me want to be in it, which *hopefully* I will later in the summer. In a similar way. And the mood of the story in the first half is just so saddening it breaks my heart. But! It's a very good read thus far. :)

From "The Iron Queen"
by Julie Kagawa

“For the record,” Grimalkin stated as we ventured, single file, into the black, “I do not think this is a good idea. But, as no one listens to the cat anymore, I will have to wait until we are completely lost to say ‘I told you so'."

Not a spoiler, I promise.

Hooray, Grim! This book made me cry. It's probably one of the best in the series. No, scratch that...all the books are pretty damn good!

From page 506 of "Summer at Willow Lake"
by Susan Wiggs

Then she looked at the laughing faces of her father and brother and realized the reason didn't matter. Sometimes it was enough just to be happy, for nor reason at all.

Totally just finished this book. One thing I have to say is: don't judge this one by its cover. The story is superb and amazing. *sighhh*

On a blogging note, you might have noticed I've sort of somewhat disappeared. My laptop is getting soooo hot. Did I mention it functions seasonally? In winter, my laptop feels cold. In spring and autumn, it gets slightly warmer. And in summer, it is scorching hot. Now it's starting to feel like summer, so right now as I type, my hands are burning. At least that's what it feels like.

School is also approaching an end. I'm trying so very hard to keep on task and maintain my grades and everything. But summer is not far away! I can feel it at the tips of my fingers! And it's tempting me. Often, I'd catch myself daydreaming in class, which I believe is not a good thing, my friends.

Ooh, and speaking of school...prom was absolutely GRAND. I had an enormous amount of fun dancing with friends. Oh gosh, the food was deeeelish. I didn't want to eat much because I knew I was going to dance afterwards, but boy, did I want to! The dessert was even better (chocolate cheesecake with marshmallows on top covered with caramel). It tasted like heaven.

ANYWAY. This turned out to be a huge post! I guess I had to cram in all what I had to say for the past few weeks. It's been busy, guys, it's crazy. I hope you're all doing well yourselves. I haven't been commenting much and I'm so sorry! You might see me every now and then though. I'm always on twitter, which is where I may post my prom pictures if you're interested. So I'll talk to you guys soon! :)

From page 155 of "The Secret Year"
by Jennifer R. Hubbard

"Once you're out here in the world, nobody cares where you used to live. Who you are, that's what counts."

The barrier within the people in this book evidently separates the rich from those from "the flats". Each have their own claimed territory as well as strong opinions about the opposite side. This quote is a glimpse of what it's like outside this barrier, how your background is only a part of you when you get out there. Who you are as a person is what matters and is what people seek first.

From page 334 of "Crescendo" (Hush, Hush #2)
by Becca Fitzpatrick

"I'm really starting to like all this spy work," Vee said. "When my normal life gets boring, all I have to do is sidle up next to you."

My Internet has been on a roller coaster ride lately so I'm having trouble getting posts up when they're suppose to be up. I should schedule some posts juuuust in case and I just wanted to let you all know. :)

From page 112 of "Delirium"
by Lauren Oliver

For some of us, it's about more than the deliria. Some of us, the lucky ones, will get the chance to be reborn: newer, fresher, better. Healed and whole and perfect again, like a misshapen slab of iron that comes out of the fire glowing, glittering, razor sharp.

I'm taking my time with this book. The writing is too precious to only give a second glance, as you can see above. Gosh, I love this.

From page 188 of "The Iron King"
by Julie Kagawa

"But if the Nevernever dies, won't you disappear, as well?"
"I am a cat," Grimalkin replied, as if that explained anything.

Grimalkin = my fave character, seriously. Oh, and Team Puck or Team Ash? I have not an idea yet. Who knew it was so hard to choose?! I'm leaning towards one of them, though. :O

From page 358 of "Spirit Bound"
by Richelle Mead

"Your optimism...your belief that you can make anything happen. Oh, Rose. It's one of the amazing things about you. It's also one of the most infuriating things about you.

Oh my gosh, this chapter is twisting my heart into little shreds! Why must this be so sad!

From page 102 of "The Tempest's Roar"
by R.A.R. Clouston

Apollo, the lonely outsider, followed but as he swam through the warm seas in the dawning light of day, he began to wonder if he ever would belong anywhere. It was a heavy burden to bear because loneliness is a more sinister hunter than any made of flesh and blood, on land or in the sea, for it is the one hunter that its prey cannot escape.

My teaser:

I didn't think I was in love with Zach, but I was happier when I was with him than when I was with anyone else. But best of all was being alone. Do you want to be alone when you're in love?
