Waiting on Wednesday (42)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine.

Kindred
by Tammar Stein

Release Date:
February 8, 2011

Description:

The first time I meet an angel, it is Raphael and I am eighteen.

Miriam is an unassuming college freshman stuck on campus after her spring break plans fall through. She's not a religious girl--when pressed she admits reluctantly to believing in a higher power. Truth be told, she's about as comfortable speaking about her faith as she is about her love life, which is to say, not at all. And then the archangel Raphael pays Miriam a visit, and she finds herself on a desperate mission to save two of her contemporaries. To top it all off, her twin brother, Mo, has also had a visitation, but from the opposite end of the good-evil spectrum, which leaves Miriam to wonder--has she been blessed and her brother cursed or vice versa? And what is the real purpose behind her mission?

Wow! A book about angels! I haven't read much of those, actually, so this one should be quite an experience.

Teaser Tuesday (25)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading.

My teaser:
Popularity's a weird thing. You can't really define it, and it's not cool to talk about it, but you know it when you see it. Like a lazy eye, or porn.

~pg. 17 "Before I Fall"
by Lauren Oliver

Finally. I have waited such a long time to read this book! I kept putting it off because of library books, and to me, library books always come first.

But so far, so good. I'm trying to take my time with this one because I'd like to relish every single bit. I've heard plenty amazing things about it!

Challenge Completed: The 2010 Support Your Library

As you know, I'm a huge fan of the library. I go there almost every week to pick up books. Well, I decided last year to try and do a challenge based on library books. I aimed for 50 and I have finally completed my goal! It took a while, yes, but I mostly read library books during the summer as I have more free time that time.

The list of library books that I read can be found here.

Date completed: October 3rd, 2010.

Note: Just because I'm finished a library challenge, doesn't mean I'll stop reading library books. The library is an awesome place! Who can resist? I'll continue to add books from the library to the list until the year ends.

From the library:

Revelations (Blue Bloods book 3) by Melissa de la Cruz

---

So I only received one book from the library this week. Unfortunately, I think I lost my precious library card. Ah, well, I guess it's time to get a brand new one immediately! On another note, I've yet to start writing two reviews. It'd be so much easier if procrastinating doesn't exist!

Friday's Finest (33)

Friday's Finest is a new meme hosted by Steff & Justine from A Bookful of Thoughts.

Rules:

~Post a quote that really stuck to you after reading it in a book.
~Make sure it isn't a spoiler!
~If you'd like, expand on what you think it means and why you chose it.

There's always someone who secretly believes in myths and legends; or at least parts of them. Those are the people who will look beyond the obvious and see things in this world that are truly wonderful... But they won't say anything, even if they do. Because the rest of us who view the world as logical and scientific wouldn't see the truth if it was posted up on a billboard.

Wings by Aprilynn Pike

I like seeing beyond things that are typical or what you may call normal. It just gives me a spark of inspiration and a feeling that maybe anything is possible.

Wings is such a great book. I love how it's about the beautiful, hidden world of the fey. Who really knows if it's real? In my head, it feels real.
