A new clean layout

The old one:

I didn't like it very much and I got sick of it too soon. I felt it was also too messy so I thought I should change the layout.

It's the New Year! Why should I not change it? Anyway, hope you like it :)

The Last Minute To-Do List of 2009

... because everyone has one ;)

So the new year is fast approaching and I've found myself thinking of how much I still want to get accomplished before the end of 2009. I'm sure all of you are the same so after reading this post, I'd love it if you guys left a comment about what your last minute to-do list is or even how you're planning to celebrate the coming of 2010! So without further ado, here is my last minute to-do list (hoping to be) achieved by the end of 2009!:

  • Go to Chapters and use up my gift cards and money on new books!
  • Start on that holiday homework -.- (yeah, like that's gonna happen)
  • Get started on writing once again (I've been putting it off too much)
  • FINALLY watch 500 Days of Summer
  • Spend some more of that Christmas money ;)
  • Try to stop being so controlling all the time! (as a sort of preparation for my new years resolution)
  • Have a jam session with my fellow singers :)
  • Put some more effort into my physio!
  • See some friends I haven't seen all Christmas break
  • Take a bunch of pictures with said friends ;)
  • End the year with a bang with parties! :D

Owl Keeper
by Christine Brodien-Jones

Release Date:
April 13th, 2010

Description:

Maxwell Unger has always loved the night. He used to do brave things like go tramping through the forest with his gran after dark. He loved the stories she told him about the world before the Destruction—about nature, and books, and the silver owls. His favorite story, though, was about the Owl Keeper.

According to Max’s gran, in times of darkness the Owl Keeper would appear to unite owls and sages against the powers of the dark. Gran is gone now, and so are her stories of how the world used to be. Max is no longer brave. The forest is dangerous, the books Gran had saved have been destroyed, and the silver owls are extinct. At least that’s what the High Echelon says. But Max knows better.

Maxwell Unger has a secret. And when a mysterious girl comes to town, he might just have to start being brave again.

The time of the Owl Keeper, Gran would say, is coming soon.

Steff's Blurbs: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

"Reeling me closer, he didn't stop until I was directly in front of him. Suddenly he lifted me onto the counter. My face was level with his. He fixed me with a dark, inviting smile. And that's when I realized this moment had been dancing around the edge of my fantasies for several days now." pg 126

Babbling Blurb:
A few days ago, my dearest friend Justine sent me a text saying how I must read this new book that she is completely hooked on. She was very insistant and even offered to lend me her copy so how could I refuse? Some of her praises included things like, "You will not be able to put it down!" and "It is SO MUCH better than Twilight!" and after reading it (in less than a day), my verdict is: she's right.

Hush, Hush combines romance and fantasy into one addicting novel. There were parts where I was kept on the edge of my seat while other parts got me squealing like a fangirl. Patch, the hero, (who I admit can be described as a stalker) can probably get any of you girls to swoon over him. After all, what girl can resist the bad boy charm? You can check off mysterious, dark, and handsome down your list of fantasy dreamboat qualities. Throw in a likeable heroine, a great setting, and a dark plot to keep the story going and you've got yourself a page turner.

~A note from Steff: This is my first official post! Woohooo! I am incredibly excited to be a part of this blog! :D Wish me luck? ^.^ And I hope you all like my new "section". Feels like I'm getting my own column on a newspaper. Teehee.

A New Member!

I am glad to introduce my partner-in-crime to this whole book blogging shebang....

Justine's Thoughts: Airhead & Being Nikki by Meg Cabot

Airhead & Being Nikki
By Meg Cabot

Pages:

337 (Airhead)
336 (Being Nikki)

Book Description:

Emerson Watts didn’t even want to go to the new SoHo Stark Megastore grand opening. But someone needed to look out for her sister, Frida, whose crush, British heartthrob Gabriel Luna, would be singing and signing autographs there - along with the newly appointed Face of Stark, teen supermodel sensation Nikki Howard.

How was Em to know that disaster would strike, changing her - and life as she’d known it - forever? One bizarre accident later, and Em Watts, always the tomboy, never the party princess, is no longer herself. Literally.

Now getting her best friend, Christopher, to notice that she’s actually a girl is the least of Em’s problems.

But what Em’s pretty sure she’ll never be able to accept might just turn out to be the one thing that’s going to make her dream come true...

(Airhead)

A quote:

Family was people who needed you. Family was people who had nothing when you had everything.
You had to do what was right by them. You had to, even if doing so broke your heart.

- (Being Nikki)

Any thoughts:

A few minutes ago, I just finished reading the second book out of the series. I didn’t get to review the first one so what I’ll do is the same thing I did with The Vampire Diaries series. I’ll talk about them in general.

When I first read the summary, my first thought was, “Whaa..?” I was so confused! (Later I realized how dumb I was, haha.) But I knew I had to read it. I mean, it’s by Meg Cabot! She’s awesome! And the minute I finished Airhead, I knew I made the right choice because not only does it leave you questions that are just desperate to find its answers, but it makes you really think. There’s a deep message beneath the whole plot of the series. If you put science or technology and beauty or fame together, you’ll figure it out. That’s what makes it so special.

I love Em Watts as the heroine. She’s laugh-out-loud funny, intelligent and unselfish. And it’s pretty amusing how she adjusts herself with the new lifestyle. The other characters are really fun, as well. I often find that Meg Cabot’s characters are relatable and enjoyable so it’s easy to love them.

I’m guessing it’s mostly aimed at teens, though they do say quite a few swear words. So if you’re interested in reading something light and entertaining, then this is the book for you.
